Local etiquette
Modest dress is expected in public. Photography of people, especially women, requires permission. Prayer times pause most commercial activity for 15-25 minutes.
Transport
Careem and Uber operate widely in Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah and Riyadh. The Haramain High-Speed Rail connects Makkah and Madinah in about 2 hours.
Mobile data
Local SIMs (STC, Mobily, Zain) are inexpensive and give better coverage than roaming. An eSIM booth is often available at Jeddah airport arrivals.
Safety
Saudi Arabia has low petty-crime rates. Keep your passport in the hotel safe and carry a photocopy for daily use.
